The time to set an intention is when you want to influence your experience of any situation. Since intention is the rudder that keeps you on the course you have charted for achieving your vision, goals and desires, setting intentions is the best way to be the best YOU possible.

Without deliberately setting my expectation that pesky writer’s block would cloud my thinking and restrict my creativity with a barrier of worry and doubt. By creating an intention I focus on trusting the flow and I don’t spend precious energy on doubts or other imagined reasons to stop writing. It works every time!

Consistency is the key; and much more important than the scope of the intention. Start small, set intentions regularly and notice the difference in your life. Most of all be sure your intention is phrased for what you want; NOT what you don’t want. Here are some examples to spark your own intentions:
- Before you go to sleep – intend that your dreams bring an answer to a question you’ve been asking.
- Upon awakening – intend to be mindful during the day.
- As you get out of bed – intend to have a fun day and find humor in the little things.
- As you eat any meal – intend to savor the array of wonderful flavors.
- Before you start the car – intend to have a safe and relaxing trip.
- Before you enter your workplace – intend to learn something new or be generous and compassionate with co-workers.
- Before you start any project – intend to have clarity and focus.
- Before you pick up the phone to make an important call – intend that there be clear communication and an easy resolution.
