A year ago I discovered my WHY and everything changed. We all have a WHY – the driving force that controls our decisions, preferences and compulsions. Our WHY is the filter through which we see ourselves and others.
I believe in getting the results you want and I’m always on the look-out for ways to streamline and clarify processes. In fact, I couldn’t stop myself even if I wanted to. Disrupting a perfectly good system, just for the sake of disruption, drives me “crazzzzzy”. I believe if you do things the “right” way you will get the “right” results. Like it or not – that’s my WHY.
If you have time to do it over, you had time to do it right the first time
For most of my life, I struggled with thinking that I was different and didn’t “fit in” because I wasn’t one of the “warm fuzzy” people. I thought I was “defective” because I spent less time talking around the water cooler and more time looking for systems, pitfalls and outcomes. I was wrong. I wasn’t defective! Little did I know that it was my dominant programming, my WHY, ticking away in the background without my awareness or understanding; the driving force in most everything I do. I was living my WHY.
Your WHY isn’t something that you get to choose. It’s a behavior you needed for survival and success as a child that has become like your “operating system” and most of the time its invisible. Can you see that it might be useful to know your WHY?
Your WHY is the lens through which you experience your life. Click To TweetDiscovering my WHY gave me clarity and confidence—like striking a match in a dark cave. Now the way I do things seems much more natural and straightforward; I’ve stopped second-guessing myself. I amplify my strengths and even more importantly, appreciate and adjust for my weaknesses rather than judging them. That really makes life easier!
Your WHY is your authentic personal brand
Now that I know my WHY I communicate more clearly about my passion, my purpose and my cause; not from what I ’should’ say but on an authentic wavelength. I can laugh and be humble when my WHY gets in the way and powerful when I can harness its strength.
Now that I know what’s going on, I can appreciate it. I love being surrounded by people with WHYs different than mine since they usually LOVE to do what I don’t or can quickly and effortlessly do what I can’t. I can appreciate those that drive me “crazzzzzy”. Now I see that’s exactly what I need to get the new viewpoints that cause me to grow.

I enjoyed reading this again this morning! I was so caught up in my
Jobs, I forgot about my Passions! In essence I forgot about me, Joannne!
I was so focused, so to speak on Corporate America, my Passion for Photography lay dormant
as a kidded myself it was “Just a Hobby”! I knew I was better than that; it had tho my Fiancee Isabel who shook me out of the
the Bushes of Life to really see myself more Clearly. She literally drove me out of New England to land my Feet on Texas soil
for the first time in my Life! And here I’ll remain for the rest of my Life!
So today my Vision is pretty clear everyday. Now I can truly say I have “Focus” & New Vision in & for my Life!
Well, said, Joanne!
Thanks JoAnne for this inspiring article. It’s a powerful message and an eye-opener.
Personal WHY discoveries come with my coaching packages. Sometimes clearly seeing your WHY for the first time feels more like a brick up-side the head than an eye opener 🙂 And there’s freedom either way. To your success!
Thanx, Joanne,
I read your inspirational messages all the time! It took me many years to discover, WHY NOT ME!!!?
Have a Great Day!
It’s fun when you realize You ARE the ONE. All the best!
